The laser technology is widely used in the cosmetic dentistry corner. Normally, lasers work by delivering energy in the form of light. It can be used to accomplish many kinds of dental issues, such as gingival ailments and tooth decay.

Procedure

Many people choose laser dentistry over conventional or traditional treatments. There are two types of laser treatments, such as hard tissue lasers and soft tissue lasers. Hard tissue lasers are used to detect cavities, to deal with tooth sensitivity, and for preparing teeth for dental fillings. Whereas soft tissue lasers are used mainly for cosmetic procedures. This would include crown lengthening, to deal with restricted tongue movement, reshaping the gums, and to remove fold in oral soft tissues that are caused by dentures.

Laser dentistry is similar to tooth fillings. The doctor would give anesthesia to avoid other discomfort or irritation during the process. The laser would act as an object used for cutting or a vaporizer of the tissue while under surgical and dental procedures. The various procedures of laser dentistry to treat tooth would include the following:

Cavity detection - lasers would help to detect cavities early by finding evidence of tooth decay.
Treating sensitive skin - usually, teeth would be sensitive to hot and cold, and this can be treated with dental lasers. This would seal tubules on the tooth’s root.
Tooth fillings - the traditional drills and local anesthesia are not required under laser treatment. The laser beam can destroy the bacteria in the cavity that would aid in the long-term health of a tooth.
Crown lengthening - lasers would help to reshape both gum tissue and bone for healthier tooth structure. This would help in placing restorations on the teeth.
Teeth whitening - laser treatment can speed up the bleaching process during teeth-whitening sessions.
TMJ - lasers can help reduce the pain and inflammation in the joints
